NBCB Announces New (Temporary) Location

North Brooklyn Community Boathouse (NBCB) is excited to announce a new partnership with Queens Landing Boathouse and Environmental Center.

Open in October 2023, the facility is located off the Newtown Creek, in Gotham Point's southern building, next to the Hunters Point South public boat launch in Long Island City. Queens Landing is managed by the non-profit Hunters Point Parks Conservancy.

NBCB will temporarily run kayak programming from the space while their new boathouse is under construction at 51 Ash Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Canoe trips and Public Paddles will continue to launch from Manhattan Avenue Park. Queens Landing will also serve as a location for NBCB meetings, classes, and events.

The collaboration with Queens Landing will allow NBCB to continue to fulfill its mission, enabling safe, responsible, human-powered boating to the community, and educating residents on the history, ecology, and sustainability of our waterways.

On October 28, 2023, NBCB hosted its first Public Paddle from the Queens location. The event provided an opportunity to introduce a new group of residents to the Newtown Creek and the joy of paddling.

Hunters Point Parks Conservancy will be hosting various activities in the facility, and our partners at Newtown Creek Alliance will be providing environmental education programming.

Queens Landing Boathouse and Environmental Center is located at 57-28 2nd St. Unit 105, Queens, NY 11101.

Please see our calendar for upcoming land and water activities.
